Required Qualifications & Education: •10+ years experience in IT support or system administration •5 to 7 years of networking experience required •3 to 5 years of network administration experience required •1 to 2 years of help desk experience desirable •BS degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent applicable work experience) is required •CCNA certification is required; CCDA or additional Cisco related certifications desirable •Working knowledge of Ciscoworks LMS and Ciscoworks ACS Server. Preferred Skills: •Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills, especially with server, antivirus, wireless, and desktop solutions. •Maintains confidentiality with regard to information being stored, processed, or accessed on the network •Assists users, team members, and other members of the client organization as a knowledgeable resource •Working knowledge of Solarwinds Network Performance Monitor and Network Traffic Analyzer tools. •Working knowledge of ForeScout CounterACT •Fundamental knowledge of storage networking •Familiarity with MS Project and/or other project planning tools. Principal Duties & Responsibilities: •Responsible for all network administration of the Division. •Provides technical guidance to other Network Administrators. •Investigates systems problems and identifies their source, determines possible solutions, tests and implements solutions related to network infrastructure in an environment with 100+ Cisco network devices, 1000+ users, 100+ servers, and 11 sites. •Designs, configures, installs, and maintains LAN and WAN solutions using Cisco and Netgear devices, network cabling, and other related equipment and systems. •Responsible for preparing market surveys, requirements analysis, high-level and detailed designs, and implementation plans in accordance with the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC). •Prepares written project plans, technical documentation and visual presentations. •Develops Standards of Procedure documentation for operational support. •Acts independently under general direction. •Interfaces directly with government management to extract requirements, provide consultation on complex activities and project status. •Provides networking expertise for management and engineers on integrating new technology and procurement of networking equipment. •Studies vendor products to determine those which best meet user needs and presents information to management for acquisition approval. •Manages local area network performance and troubleshoots problems. •Liaison with the Departments WAN team. •Manages modification of Division firewall policies. •Works directly with security engineers to integrate Division security policy into systems design and ensures that security procedures are implemented and enforced. •Establishes and implements local area network policies, procedures and standards. •Prepares recommendations for system improvement for management and user consideration. •Provides technical assistance along with 2nd and 3rd Tier support to Server Operations team •Maintains and monitors backups and archives. •May be required to assist with Windows Server and desktop application design activities. •Travel may be required (short and infrequent).
